JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Joko Widodo asked to be alert for people with conflicts of interest that infiltrate a member of the Selection Committee candidates for the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission. Coordinator of the Division of Law and Justice Monitoring Indonesia Corruption Watch said Emerson Yuntho, if not, then the potential weakening of the Commission will be even greater.
"Pansel KPK future will easily infiltrated by people entrusted party, even being targeted KPK parties or parties who want the Commission attenuated, even disbanded," Emerson said in a press release on Sunday (10/05/2015).
Emerson said, Jokowi should not involve an element of political parties and affiliation with political parties. Not only that, Jokowi also asked to be vigilant with academics who became an advocate or expert for the parties which are not pro-KPK.
"Support Jokowi President of the Commission and to avoid weakening the KPK should start from a tight election candidates KPK selection committee members," said Emerson.
According to him, the candidate selection committee members KPK leadership track record should also be selected by the Commission and the Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis.
He added that the appointed selection committee members must be integrity, and not independent of political parties, and has no conflict of interest with the Commission.
"Never had a problem in the past, for example, a suspect of corruption, and is committed to anti-corruption," he said.
Emerson said, the composition of the leadership candidates pansel Commission will determine the fate of the next Commission. If the selected members are not in line with the anti-corruption commitments, then the candidate who diplihnya also be problematic.
"If the chairman or a member of pansel problematic, it is certain candidates KPK leaders generated and submitted to Parliament later the majority of problematic figure," said Emerson.
